Round Tripping and its effect on Excel file
Round tripping is a process of converting one document into another format and vice versa. In case of MS Excel when you convert .xls or .xlsx file to another format say .html or .xml due to personal or professional needs then you are doing round tripping. Round tripping is a quick way to change the format of a file to represent it in another format. For example, you have been asked to represent .xlsx file into .html format; therefore, you change its format to .html and represent it to the manager. After that you bring the file back to its original format.
Sometimes, it happens that the Excel file gets damaged due to round tripping leading you in data loss. Let us consider an example that due to some professional requirements you have converted an Excel file into .xml format and then into .pdf format.
