Modern Digital multimeters
When we say modern with any technology then it is referred to the advanced version of that product. I am going to talk about digital multimeter here and how they evolved over the years. The first of the entire digital multimeter was a single analogue meter with only three basic operations. First of them contained measuring of voltage, current and resistance. It was analogue because there were no integrated circuits involved; also the design was based on the values of inductances and relative motions of needles. A voltmeter was designed by attaching a resistor in series with the galvanometer. An ohm meter was introduced by producing additional battery with galvanometer, and finally an ampere meter was introduced by producing parallel resistor with galvanometer.
When all of the above mentioned meters put together, they formed the basic analogue multimeter. The next stage of evolution came with the introduction of integrated circuits, and here was the point when digital multimeter was introduced. It contained efficient programming in combination with the basic design structure of a perfect electronics analogue circuitry to perform all the measuring features. Later the advancement of circuitry and use of fuses in digital multimeter brought further units to be measured in its features. For example frequency was a factor which was not able to measured earlier. Similarly, capacitance and many other small scale component values can be measured now.
Every digital meter contains two terminals where relative wire can be connected to measure the values. The scales are enhanced to larger values, where one can measure values of components and electrical units more efficiently. There are different price multimeters available in the market with respect to their functionality. The battery to be employed is simple 9v at most. Apart from that design of modern digital multimeters is very attractive and compact. It contains easy to switch dial for switching units easily from one to another. Methods of measuring different component values are given in the manual for help. You don't have to worry about its being going bad at times, since most of the problems are resolved by changing the fuse only. All you have to do is pick the suitable multimeter for you and start doing troubleshooting all by yourself.

You are using a multimeter to measure the resistance of a commercial resistor.?
The meter gives readings to the nearest one hundredth of an ohm, and when connected across the resistor, the meter gives readings that fluctuate between 346.59 ohms and 351.08 ohms. Give a value for the measured resistance and its associated uncertainty.
348.835 +-2.245 Ohms
0r 348.84 +- 2.25 Ohms [2.d.p]
It's absolute uncertainty is 2.25 Ohms and its relative uncertainty is 0.64%.
