Stove can be considered as the "heart of the kitchen" because without the stove almost 90% of the work cannot be performed in kitchen. It plays a vital role in determining the taste and quality of the food. I have a GE as well.
I've had GE Profile smooth-top stoves for about 15 years, and they take any pans that you have - although pyrex takes longer to heat up. I had a Thermidor a long time ago, and that needed cast iron or stainless steel to complete the circuit to heat up. So, it depends what type of stove you have
