What are the positive and negative connections on a solid state relay?
Im making a circuit and the diagram only involves the positive and negative end of the relay. on one side there's three prongs and on the other is one prong which ones are the positive and negative?
Without knowing the part number, it is a litle hard to tell but this is my best guess:
If it is a common 'N' type relay, the circuit would be set up like this:
Positive Voltage Source -> Load -> Drain of Relay (D)
Source of Relay (S) -> Negative Voltage Source (ie. GND)
The gate driver, G (think of it like the coil wire) would be connected to positive when you want to close the circuit. When you want the circuit to open, it is best to tie (G) it to the negative source (GND).
If it is a less common 'P' type relay, the circuit would be set up like this:
Positive Voltage Source -> Source of Relay (S)
Drain of Relay (D) -> Load -> Negative Voltage Source (ie. GND)
