Momentary Switch Confusion?

I understand most of the project, but I'm little confused about some of the hardware because of my limited knowledge about electronics. In this person's project, he/she uses a DPDT momentary switch. I realize that I need a momentary switch for this project to work, but I'm not sure if DPDT is necessary. Would I still be able to get the same results with SPDT, or even SPST? I also hope to use the caps button to add an extra bank. Would switch selection be a factor in that functionality?

The answer depends on the circuit. If you need to open two contacts and close two different contacts momentarily, then close the original two contacts, you will need a DPDT momentary contact. If you only need to close one contact momentarily (say to lock in a relay), then a SPST momentary witch will suffice. Conversely, if you need to close two contacts momentarily, then you must use a DPST momentary switch. In most cases, a push-button is the desired choice for the actuator.
