we have dial-up (through the phone line) and i was wondering if i got a laptop and hooked it to the phone jack in my room would i be able to get on the internet even if the other computer is pluged in a diffrent phone jack(not used at the sma time)??
Yes you can. Have a computer hooked up to every phone jack in the house if you want.
Almost the same as having several phones in one house.
Only one can be used at a time in the case of the computer dialing up as you mentioned.
