Duracell Rechargeable Batteries - AA and AAA battery capacity and size review
We are taking a look at the two most common types of Duracell rechargeable batteries, the AA and AAA. We look at their physical size as well as their capacity and output.
AA Rechargeable Batteries
The AA is bar far the most common size battery available today. You can find these in all types of devices such as portable media devices, remote controls, children's toys and digital cameras.
AA Duracell rechargeable batteries are ~51 mm in length, without counting the terminal. They have a diameter of between 13.5 and 14.5 mm.
These AA rechargeable batteries have a weight of around 31g, and their non-rechargeable variants come in at around 23g.
Now to take a look at capacity, non-rechargeable AA batteries have a capacity of 500-1100 mAh (milliamp hours). The ever important NiMH rechargeable batteries have a very favourable capacity of 1300-2900 mAh.
AA rechargeable batteries have an output of 1.2V.
AAA Rechargeable Batteries
AAA rechargeable batteries are the second most popular of the best rechargeable batteries, behind of course the AA. AAA rechargeable batteries are most common in smaller low-draw devices such as remote controls, especially because of the low-draw requirements and the need to keep the physical size of the battery down as much as possible.
AAA Duracell rechargeable batteries are ~44.5 mm in length and have a diameter of ~10.5mm.
These AAA rechargeable batteries have a weight of around 11.5g for a non-rechargeable and our every popular AAA Duracell rechargeable batteries have a weight of around 14-15g.
The capacity of AAA batteries is usually around 900-1200mAh.
AAA batteries are generally only around 1/3 of the capacity of AA's, however also have an output of around 1.2v.
We are also going to take a look at the size C and D rechargeable batteries, so make sure that you stay tuned to Duracell Rechargeable Batteries Review and post any comments or questions that you may have.

Why do all my rechargeable batteries stop holding a charge?
I have bunch of AA rechargeable batteries from Sony for a DSC-W5 (old technology, I know) and when I first got the camera in 2005, it would take weeks to go through one set of batteries. Now it goes through batteries like they're going out of style. Any ideas why?
There's this stupid thing called the law of physics that, in a nut shell, makes it so every time you charge your batteries a certain portion (10%?) becomes unusable energy. Eventually the batteries become crap. That's why they suggest you fully exhaust and fully recharge batteries the first time you get them.
