Using LCD Module with AVRs

LCD modules with AVR Series
When you begin to use the LCD module, you will begin to feel your imagination MCU and the actual power to touch the sky you will not know how many exciting a powerful little tool, you can create, this is so easy.

LCD module for the user the current text. It's like a cheap "monitor", you can link all your gadgets. They have different types. The most popular displays 2 lines of 16 characters. These can easily interface to the MCU's, thanks to the API (function for easy access module), we provide. LCD interface is just fun!
LCD module has two operating modes: text and guidance. The default is text mode, the data through a serial line appears on the screen received. Send the string "image", "image" will appear on the LCD screen. To enter a command to the LCD module, such as clear screen, enter the 2nd line, and so on, you have to prefix commands with ASCII 254. The following prefix byte is considered as a scripting. Instruction code, the unit will automatically return to text mode. Each instruction code must send their 254 prefix.

Touch Screen LCD platform module extends the 4.3 your propeller platform "color 480x272 resolution LCD touch screen. Like other platform module, touch screen LCD module uses standard 0.1" pitch, so you can use a breadboard or bread board it .

Touch screen integration of existing propeller code is simple: the paint demo (and other shows) that contains the object-driven mouse and touch screen LCD display and read. They are posted parallax replace VGA and mouse drivers.

These displays are pulled back to a major equipment manufacturers, factory units. All units are tested for basic functionality prior to shipment, but they are in use, and sell "as is."

The first thing you want to do is get your head on the LCD screen some of the foot. I want to plug with the head and feet, so that I can easily with the LCD, without having to drag around a heavy risk of loose wires and cables. Most direct line to the Board, there is nothing wrong, I like a little flexibility.
You need to figure out which pins, we will use for data transmission. Here is a pin table to help:

In the table view, you can see, we need to wire pins 4 and 6 to 14 to the parallel port. These are the LCD module, we hope to have the first pin point only. Looking back on your LCD module, and to identify pin 1 and the work they do not follow the removal of the head pin number in their own way. Once you've done on the plate, welded pins. To ensure the tall part of the exposed back of the board. Solder the first pin, and then finally, resolder and straighten if needed rest, and then welded.

Now, we pin our heads then we have to do is to let our old printer cable, and get rid of the connector on both ends. You can choose to leave the one found on the connector and pinout for yourself, so you do not buy a plug-and post-welding of public housing, but I just found this way easier. Once you do, separate from the rest of the line of 10 different colors (we only need 10 data lines). Tape off and cut off the other wires. I left 12 and the bare wire, just in case I forgot something

Now you do on both ends (if you do not want a connector) of the end, but stayed in the other end of the wire and shielded wire. Pick up your floppy drive cable or the appropriate connectors and IDC connectors unlock. Decide whether you want to use the connector at the top or bottom of the line and pushed to the point of self cutting delay your wires. I use forceps to help promote them. Be sure to follow the correct LCD screen on the first leg up. Once you push them, cut the top so there is no messy bits, and then lock / crimp together. Try to plug in your heads and feet, and ensure that all wires and lines in the correct location, these are.

Now get the other end of the cable, we stripped and soldered to the start of welding DB25 male connector on the right pins. I have included a diagram that shows the connector pins are studying (some, in fact, to match the plug) of the front. It also helps if you fill out the solder and tin-bit first before soldering them to your thread a small tube. Wire insulation should be in the welding of the pipe end of each small fair, should not have any exposed wires. Remember you are now watching from behind the plug in the number of pins, screws, so now the mirror bracket and installation of the cable after the shell in its connector. You should now have completed your data transmission cables, ready to go.
Now let us return to LCD LCM. This thing is going to need some power to make your Molex Y - splitter and the second female disconnection. This is what kind of, we should help you to connect to the pictures.

We only need +5 V (your LCD 'may' is different) to cut the matching black and yellow line the main connector (cut very close, so we did not get any thermal shorts and may be covered), so now you have a separator, just off a black and red lines. LCD connector on the wire, red + black has 5V and ground. Red wire bonding to the pin of the LCD display 2, the black wire to pin 1.
Next, we need to connect the contrast of our control 10K ohm potentiometer. Solder some wires, and then follow its other end connected to the actual LCD module diagram above. The center of the pot should lead to pin 3 on the LCD screen and a side we can go to +5 V power supply and grounding.
Finally, we can connect some of the power of our light source, and raised in the 100 ohm trimpot, so we can control its intensity. Again in accordance with the diagram to see if things should go. Central leadership of the trimpot should go to one side of the backlight and welding, has led to the cathode surface. If you also want a switch, like me, then the edge between the trimpot and ground pin it. When I first fell in love with it, I did not put in the trimpot, just put it all 5V voltage. Little did I know my LCD backlight and the normal operating voltage of 4.1V 4.4V maximum ? screen began to walk in the dark and light yellow than green. It took me a while to figure out what happened so the wiring is to be careful, and consult you for your dedicated LCD of its size table

Now I hope you have not forgotten about 5 feet on the LCD screen, in fact, it needs to connect to the ground? Cut your self a small piece of wire and strip both ends of the shield, 5 feet to the ground solder LCD monitor.
Congratulations to all the connections should now be over! However, this is only half of them, we need to hook into your computer and make sure it does not blow in your data line and put it into your computer and Molex power connector plug anything, open your computer. It should appear as One line and second line to fill all the characters in the blank, and then repeat this pattern, all other lines. If you do not see this then adjust your contrast and backlight brightness, and if still not, or you look at the other and then turn it off and unplug it, because you did something wrong. Go back and check all the wiring.

Using Bose Acoustimass 15 Speakers with a 7.2 channel receiver?

I have an existing Bose Acoustimass 15 Speaker System.

I recently purchased a Blu-Ray Player and want to upgrade to a 7.2 channel receiver.

I would like to integrate my Bose Speaker System into the new set-up.

What I have been told is that I could use four of the Bose satellites for L/R-Surround and L/R-Rear [both pair configured LARGE] with the Acoustimass bass module placed center(ish) back, as a shared woofer.

I would then purchase a new L/C/R and subwoofer as the other part of the new set-up.

Any thoughts?

You could probably get it to work but I wouldn't recommend it.

First Bose are not very good speakers. Second they have lots of equalization built in and are weak on connectivity so matching them to other speakers will be problematic. Third, surround speakers are best when they come from the same family and are what is called "timbre matched". Fourth, unless you have a very big room there is no real advantage to 7.1 or 7.2 systems. Even blu-ray doesn't have that much true 7 channel audio. Fifth, small speakers are not suitable for medium to large rooms, and two subs may be overkill in a small room.

But if you really want to go that way sell the Bose and move up to some true audio speakers. See the link for some recommended models at a range of prices. Note Bose are NOT on the list.
