Potentiometer Pots
What type of potentiometer do i need to be able to slow the speed of a 12 volt motor from a 2.2Ah 12v battery?
I think potentiometer are measured in ohms. So, what specifications do i need for my pot to be able to slow the current reaching the motor?
A 1000 ohm, 25 watt potentiometer. will do the job for likely motors with a 2.2 amp battery. If the motor is rated less than 0.2 amps, a ten watt potentiometer likely won't smoke at any setting, but 3000 ohms is needed to get very low speeds at light loads. Neil
