Changing a plug isn't rocket science
When electrical equipment breaks down, many Britons give up the ghost far too quickly. While getting the right home emergency insurance can be important for dealing with big electrical failures, in many instances the item may simply need a new a plug to get it back into perfect working order. Although this might sound like a daunting job to some, it's actually so simple that even the biggest DIY novice should find it well within their capabilities.
By following a few simple steps, you'll soon have your hairdryer or phone charger working again in no time. Most modern appliances come with a moulded plug, which allows easy access to the fuse cartridge and a quick change. However, older plugs will usually be held together by a couple of screws. Your first task is to take these out using a screwdriver, to give you access to the inside of the plug. Then it's simply a case of popping out the blown fuse and putting a new one in – you'll need to look at the appliance itself to determine the wattage.
If you're putting a completely new plug on your broken equipment, the job will require a little more knowhow. First, you should position the plug flex at the bottom of the plug to work out how much – if any - of the sheathing you need to remove. Next, strip back the ends from the plastic to reveal the different coloured conductors. The blue cable – neutral – should always be connected to the left-hand terminal, with earth (yellow or green) going in the centre. Finally, the brown live conductor should be attached to the fuse on the right-hand side. The bared wires will need to be twisted into a thin shape which can then be connected into the terminals. These parts of the plug are usually kept in place using small screws, which will need to be loosened to allow the wires to move through. Finally, secure the cord clamp to the end of the sheathing and replace the cover – you equipment should then be ready to use once again.
Of course, there are many bigger jobs in the home which will require the skills of a fully qualified tradesman. This is where electrical cover can come in, giving you the peace of mind that if sparks fly or all the lights go out, you won't be left in the dark for long.

We have got our plug stuck in the bathroom plughole !! HELP?
We have a sort of twist mechanism plug which wont turn to empty the plug in the bath plug hole, if that makes sense. Its jammed and wont twist. Please could someone help, do I need a plumber or could we do it.
Several ways my friend,
1. Use a small eletrical screwdriver to pop under the metalic plate.
2 Remove the bath panel and manually lift it, also check the screw has not come loose.
