Cell phones have been wildly popular for decades. The good points handsets have brought to the world are endless and users like using this gadget to the degree that most people find it hard to get away from it. For example, the United States president Obama tried hard to persuade his security staff to allow him to take his BlackBerry to the white house, which shows his close relationship with the cell phone. However, debates on the potential risks rising from using cell phones have been more and more popular today. Despite that there are no standard critera about the exact menace a handset can impose on human beings, to ensure a safe life, we'd better follow some tips to stay away from the dangers as soon as possible.
Stay far way from cell phones
When you go out, it is necessary that you have to carry your handset with you. But when you stay in your work place or at home or stay in any indoor place, keep your handset in a place where you won't be hurt too badly by the radiation but also won't miss your coming phone calls and messages. Never keep it near your body if feasible. For instance, put it at the far end of your desk when you stay in your work place. Before you go to sleep, don't put your cell phone next to you if you need to keep your handset on.
Use speakerphone
When people discuss on the radiation of cell phones, it is most concerned that our head will get the radiation emitted by cell phones. To reduce the hazards, a speakerphone can help a lot. This is no doubt the favorite option for people who need to often use handsets but have concerns about radiation. Many handsets are sold with this gadget, but some are not. Luckily, speakerphones are normally inexpensive and can be purchased at street stores or online stores.
Use land lines rather than cell phones whenever possible
Despite that it will probably take you some time to track the person you intend to call and dial the number, wire telephones are no doubt a much safer choice in terms of radiation-free. Fifty years ago, few people would foresee that cell phones would be used so extensively to the extent that land lines become rarely touched as they are not as so easy to use compared with cell phones. It's a little pathetic. People are sacrificing their health for convenience. Actually it is just a matter of a few more minutes to dial a number. Why risk your safety for that little benefit? I believe that smart people would get the appropriate option.
Never answer phones when the cell phone is being charged
This controversial hazard, however, has been commonly acknowledged by people all over the world. It is claimed that cell phones generate the most radiation in the state of being charged, so you'd better not use cell phones when they are being charged. Likewise, as it is reported that handsets with weaker power will cause stronger radiation when being used, you need to make sure your cell phone is in full charge whenever possible. If you have no choice but use the cell phone when it is in the state of low battery, keep your phone conversation as short as you can

Hi all,
I work with big generators and recently I have noticed that when these beasts are running and producing power, and I get close to alternator
It feels like I have a mobile phone ringing in my top right hand pocket
But I dont carry a phone ??
Whats going on ? am I going to get hurt with magnatism ? or should I report this matter to my manager ?

I notice something similar at times, but not necessarily while near a large generator. It's kind of like a muscular twitching. No idea what is causing it either.
Could your feelings be caused by vibrations? There is plenty of air flow for cooling, as well as pulsations coming from the engine casing while it is running.
Do you have a method of measuring magnetic or electrical fields? A gauss meter would be good to have...
How big is big? We use up to 200kW generators for backup power at my work.
