Agilent Technologies unveils InfiniiVision 2000 and 3000 X-Series

Agilent Technologies has expanded its mixed-signal and digital-storage oscilloscope portfolio with 26 new models that comprise its next-generation InfiniiVision 2000 and 3000 X-Series. The new scopes incorporate breakthrough technology that allows advanced capabilities to be included in affordable instruments.

The Agilent InfiniiVision 2000 X- Series offers bandwidths from 70 MHz to 200 MHz and boasts the fastest waveform update rate in its class for superior viewing of signal detail and capture of infrequent events. First-in-class optional 8-channel mixed-signal oscilloscope (MSO) capability, and the industry's only optional integrated function generator, offer more capabilities to engineers and educators with highly constrained equipment budgets.

The Agilent InfiniiVision 3000 X-Series scopes step up performance while aggressively holding prices in line, offering bandwidths from 100 MHz to 500 MHz and industry-leading waveform update rates of 1,000,000 waveforms per second. Options include a 16-channel MSO, an integrated function generator, and hardware-accelerated serial protocol decode.

Speaking on the launch, Arun Dogra, Vice-President - Sales, Marketing & Support, EMG, Agilent India, said, "More and more customers today are increasingly looking at best-in-class, user-friendly, scalable and investment-friendly instruments, which are easy to upgrade to incorporate more robust performance and specifications. Agilent's InfiniiVision Series provides just that. In addition, it also provides the combined functionalities of 4 instruments in one box." He further adds, "One unique aspect is that it is economical, and addresses a wide array of segments, ranging from Academia, Automotive Electronics, Consumer Electronics, Manufacturing, Basic Digital Segment, Basic R&D, etc."

The heart of the InfiniiVision X-Series scopes is an Agilent-designed custom 90-nm CMOS ASIC with 6M gates and embedded memory. This MegaZoom IV single-chip architecture enables the industry's fastest waveform update rates and responsive deep memory along with integrated logic analyzer, function generator, and protocol analyzer functionality so engineers and educators have highly advanced scope performance at economical prices.

Super-simple, inexpensive oscilloscope?

Oscilloscopes are rather expensive; after all, they're quality equipment used to test all sorts of electronics. They have countless applications. But I need one that can serve only one application, and so I'd like not to blow a whole lot of money. I just need a monochrome oscilloscope, which I am going to partially disassemble and install into a special case along with a speaker, to visually represent the speaker output. I'm probably going to use perhaps 3 or 4 eventually, and for something that won't be utilizing advanced functions, I'd like not to spend $400 or even $70 (ebay) on each 'scope. Are there simple, cheap oscilloscopes?
PC-based solutions are useless to me. I am wanting an oscilloscope *built-in* to each of my speakers, always showing the speaker output. It's just for decoration.

...Or have you considered building one - NO! - not the whole thing, but a very simple (and very low-cost) PIC - based interface with which you can use any TV set as an oscilloscope...?
See http://www.dos4ever.com/uscope/uscope_e.html
for full instructions (and down-loadable files)
This, together with some 5" B/W TV sets which you can buy for a few dollars new (like brand "Curtis"), and you are well below your $70.- mark.
