New Generation Optical Network Technology

Abstract:   This paper, the development of the global optical network situation is briefly introduced, then elaborated on some form next-generation optical networks and the corresponding key technologies.

Fiber Optic network cables?

We want to switch from cat6 rj network cables to fiber optic network cables.
I have researched a little,but want advise.

We are running 5 computers off a 8 port broardband router(cable modem)

Would fiber optic cables speed up the other computers that are 25'-60' away?Over the cat6 cables?
Well two of the other people are commenting on slow downloading of pages.My computer is on a 3' cable and I have no problems with speed of loading.
We were curious if the fiber optic cables are faster than the standard cat6 cables?
Would the speed increase on the computer further away from the router?
We are on Comcast cable modem.

No, copper should be fine for this job the wire will only have communication problems at about 400'. All the money you would spend on converting to fiber would be a waste.

Fiber optic would be benificial if you need lots of bandwidth on your LAN to exchange large files between PCs or other intensive apps. like VoIP. However it wont speed up your internet connection.

5 PCs on one broadband connect is probably too big of a workload, you just need more bandwidth from your ISP.
