Rms,Impedance,Whatts going on?
I recently bought an new amplifier(pmp5000) rated at 1200 watts .ok first this was 1200 watt bridged,fair enough,600watt aside in stereo
or mon/main mix,plenty of juice more than we'd ever need so we did a test run with gear and considering we only have 300 watt speakers I thought better not turn it in case I blow the speakers .and went to vloume fader up up, up, up,(yes I did adjust trim) . I have an old 150watt H+H which I can say was at least as loud..On the back of the amp it says 600watts at 4 ohms 300watts at 8 ohms doest this mean that with 8 ohm speakers it will only push out 300watts aside at full volume? even though I sincerely doubt that it was even doing that? I have a studiomaster powered mixer horizon 1208 that puts out .600w per side and there is simply no comparison...

Presumably the amplifier has a very low source impedance and so is capable of driving 4 ohm speakers.
Power = V*V / R
If V stays the same, (which is the case here I presume) reducing R by 2 will double the power converted.
