Tips for DIY RGB Led Strip Lights
RGB LED strip lights, also known as color strips, have proven to be one of the most versatile lights. With its well-known advantages such as energy saving, ultra brightness and multiple colors it is widely used as edge-lighting of transparent materials, illuminated signs and path marking. In particular, it is an ideal lighting source for mood lighting. You can find RGB strips everywhere, in bars, kitchens, pools, cupboards, stairs, corridors, window frames and so on.
RGB LED ribbon is reputed for its infinite colors. Basically, RGB LEDs contain three LEDs that operate together as one. It can emit three basic colors: red, green, and blue. But if a controller is hooked up to the strip, then millions of colors are available. That's why you can see it in background settings and entertainment areas.
Due to its flexibility, LED RGB strips make it possible to use LED lighting in places that was not reachable before. Additionally they can be easily connected together by using the solder pads at the end of each strip (Male Connector is finished on the PCB end). So now curves, corners and round objects can be furnished with LED lighting.
If you would like to DIY RGB LED strips, some accessories are indispensible, including a connector, a controller, a power adaptor, and a power supply. Here are some tips while you prepare to choose these accessories:
1. Keep in mind that a RGB controller is specifically designed for a certain strip lights. For instance, if the strip is 24V DC version, then a standard controller (15 Amps 180 Watt Max) is advisable. Moreover, some controllers are equipped with a remote, which makes it possible to control the colors in a certain distance.
2 If you need to cut, cut at the cutting mark on the strips. Keep in mind that the maximum length of the strips that can be connected in serious is 5 meters. Otherwise they should be connected in parallel.
3 When you choose power supply for the led strip, you'd better add 20%+ tolerance. For example, the power consumption of the led tape is 24 watt, you'd better choose a 36*(1+20%)=43.2W power supply, which can ensure the led strip to run at good performance. My work looks normal on my LED monitor, but when i bring my work to a LCD monitor it goes really dark. Why?
The colour settings should both be the same (both RGB and CMYK) set up. And it looks fine to me on the actual monitor settings. Any ideas?
