Double Laser Diodes Fiber Optic Light Source
Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm (www.GAOComm.com) has released its double LD light source designed for parameter testing in optical transmission systems and attenuation measurement. It includes double laser diodes and is compliant with international optical instrument standards. The fiber optic light source also conducts optical core check with high sensitivity and accuracy. This easy-to-use light source, model 3C B, offers a high stable output and anti-interference capability. The full-featured LD light source has an output power of ±0.03dB/15mins and ±0.05dB/8h. It provides optional wavelengths such as 850nm, 1300nm, 1550nm, 1310/1550nm and 850/1300nm together with switchable modulation frequencies including CW, 270Hz, 1kHz and 2kHz to meet various requirements. Additionally, FC, ST and SC adapters are available.

Is there a laser diode in a cd rom drive from a computer?
i have a laptop that is not being used and it is really really old so it is slow and i want to take it apart but i want to see if there is a diode in there so i can build my own high powered laser

Yes, there is a laser diode in the CD rom drive. However, it will probably be fairly low power. If it is burner, it will be much higher power. You should be warned that there is a good chance it is an infrared laser that is invisible to your eye but can easily cause eye damage if used improperly. Infrared lasers cause most laser eye injuries. If it is not infrared, it will be red. All cd and dvd drives and burners are not meant to be taken apart and can be dangerous to an inexperienced laser user. I would probably pass on this idea as there is a 95% chance you will either be totally unimpressed or blind someone with this endeavor. And remember that if a laser is powerful enough to cut through something, then the stray reflections from that laser will be way more than enough power to do permanent and instantaneous eye damage.
