Need help with modules on Visual Basic 6.0?

Here's the instruction and how do I do this:

1. Variables used by more than one form should be placed in a module.
2. Rules in naming variables: a) For ordinary variables: X_aaaaa.aaa where X is the variable type
(C=string; N=numeric; D=date; A=array), b) For Global variable: GX_aaaaa.aaa where G stands for Global and X stands for Variable type.

Here's the scenario on the other forms alongside with this module:
Form1 contains 3 command boxes (close, clear, compute), 4 labels, and 4 textboxes (pre_read, cur_read, ppa_val, cur_adj). Inputs will take place in this form upon launching. Once input is done and cmdCompute was clicked, form2 now will be launched showing the outputs from the inputted values from form1. Forms 3 will only appear if there is an error (I'm through with this). Form4 will only appear once the 'About' button from form2 is clicked (I'm also through with this).

Now, my question is how do I use the instructed module alongside with these forms?

When you dimension your variables in a module you can make them Global (visible to all other forms) by declaring these variables PUBLIC.

When you create your module give it a meaningful name to help identify its purpose to you. For example change the default Module1 to modVAR. This is a combination of the first three letters in the word Module and Variable.

In the module declare your variables at the top of the module and use the PUBLIC keyword to make their scope global. Private makes the variable module level in scope

I use prefixes of m_ (module level) and g_(global level) to indicate the scope of the variable and a variation of Hungarian notation for the name. strName is a string to hold a Name.

But based on your instructions you will have a combination of prefix letters. s_Name is a string variable to hold a Name and gs_Name is how you would name it if you make it global

So in your modVAR module code window type the following at the top of the code inside the class object.

Public gs_Name as String

this declares gs_Name as a global string

To use it in a form you use Dot notation to identify the module and the variable you wish to use

To assign the name "John Smith" to name

modVAR.gs_Name = "John Smith"
