Regarding bleached teeth.....Is green tea as staining to the enamel as coffee?
I had my teeth bleached and had porcelian crowns done on the two front ones. I love the way they look and want to keep them this white. I will give up my morning coffee if I can trade it for a cup of green tea. I already avoid red wine, tea, and cokes....
To put things in perspective - I've bleached my teeth, and I'm a dentist, and while I don't smoke a 1/2 pack a day like when i was younger, I STILL have the occaisional smoke to chill out.... So all things in moderation. If your life is not as pleasant w/o your ritual of morning hot drink, then by all means, enjoy it! you can re-bleach (you should still have the trays unless you did in-chair laser bleaching) and yes, even tho' the crowns might darken somewhat more, it'll take years to do that. I don't think green tea will darken crowns THAT significantly, and is having the "perfect" smile worth not enjoying your mornings for hte rest of your life??
ALSO, bear in mind, that EVENTUALLY you WILL have to replace those fancy, pretty, white (and expensive!) front crowns. a good crown might last 20 years but sometimes only 15, so if you are super careful, and then have to replace them, you'll be sitting there thinking, Man, i could've had a few cups of tea or coffee!!
Be sure to have a peroxide based paste and or rinse, so that shoudl help lighten any stain. plus regular cleanings will help polish up those front crowns...if THAT doesn't work, the dentist can take a polishing stone in the drill and remove just a very very thing aspect of the facial of those crowns, which would take off the stain and reveal the lighter porcelein underneath. 'course, the'yd be slightly less shiny then, so tha'ts a trade-off.
But don't not enjoy yourself!
