Are Hot Flashes making you hot?

Do you happen to be a middle aged woman who's having the signs of menopause such as hot flashes. Yes, that icky, burning sensation that gets through your nerves?  A hot flash is just one of the many changes that occurs during menopause. This article provides you sufficient information regarding the symptoms including ways on that may help you tolerate its presence.

On Hot Flash and estrogen

Seen as the most common indicator of menopause, a hot flash is directly linked to estrogen. Estrogen is in charge of those red flushes in your skin. Why? This is attributed to the fact that during menopause, your estrogen level starts to go down and eventually be totally gone.

Frequency of Hot Flashes

Majority of women like you experience having hot flashes prior to or during menopause. Some women on the other hand are not presented with this kind of symptom. Typically, a hot flash persists for three to five years after its onset.  Such a long time isn't it?  Sadly, there's nothing that can be done, but  undergoing a hormonal replacement therapy to replenish estrogen.

Therapeutic options for Hot Flashes

You  are familiar with hormonal replacement therapy as it is considered the best treatment choice when it comes to hot flashes. This approach deals with the regeneration of your lost estrogen.  However,  you are a bit hesitant in trying out this treatment . If this is the case, why not consider some practical alternatives that you can do yourself to make hot flashes manageable.

Here are some tips you may find helpful the next time you experience hot flashes:

Wear lightweight clothes

Lightweight clothes does not induce friction once it contacts your skin. It also does not as much as heat than clothes made out of other textiles. Just choose clothes in lighter shades as dark colored clothes tend to absorb the sun's heat, thus aggravating your hot flash

Increase your water intake

Having a hot flash increases your body temperature. Being more thirsty and sweating more than the usual are its usual indicators. To keep your temperature at bay despite of your hot flash, keep yourself hydrated by drinking more water. It would be better if it is served cold so as to cool your body.  Avoid drinking hot beverages as it may increase your body temperature.

Always bring a water with you

Having a bottle of water around not only saves you from being thirsty, but can do wonders should there be a hot flash. You can easily splash it on your face in case hot flushes starts to occur.

I have a verticial crack in my foundation,I tried flashing cement but water is still coming in.please help?

Repair all cracks and holes in the foundation or basement floor as soon as possible. Any water caught in them will expand if it freezes, enlarging the crack. If a crack reopens after it has been repaired, you may have a serious structural problem; consult an engineer.

Fill cracks with hydraulic cement, available at hardware stores. Hydraulic cement hardens in just a few minutes, even under water, and because it expands as it dries, it bonds tightly with the existing concrete. Mix the cement with cold water as the label directs-it should be the consistency of soft modeling clay.

Two part epoxy is a more permanent sealant, but it is more expensive and harder to work with. Epoxy may also be injected, but such work should be left to a professional. Good Luck!
