Is an EPROM programmer the same as an EPROM burner?
How would it work? How would I put my data on an EPROM chip?
yes, they are the same.
Assuming you are talking about EPROM as opposed to EEPROM.
you must first erase the chip by exposing the little window in the top to high intensity UV light for a while(not sure how long exactly).
this causes all the 0s in the chip to turn to 1s, so basically, everything is 1111 1111 1111 1111 1111 1111 1111.
then you put the EPROM in the burner which applies a high voltage(around 13v, not DANGEROUS HIGH VOLTAGE) to one of the pins, and turns all the necessary 1s to 0s.
EEPROM is electrically reprogrammable, and much better(IMHO). it can usually be read/written just like Static ram, with RD/RW lines etc... you can alter PARTS of the data without actually erasing and reprogramming.
