ON OFF GUITAR HELP PLEASE!!!?
I just received a few modboards from guitarfetish.Com I really want to have them set up with an on off switch so they don't drain the batteries. One is a multi drive distortion unit with +battery, input, ground and -battery, and output terminals. The other is a 2.5 watt Preamp with +battery, ground and -battery, input, and "JK + Unamped signal out (to jack)", and finally a "HP + to headphone" terminals. Any input as to making the on off switch for these (like a spst switch) would really be appreciated. If I had to use a dpdt or somethin else that's fine too. Just please include what type... Thanks! =)
For the record, I'm not looking for Anyones opinion on what I'm doing here. Not everyone likes the idea of onboard affects and that's fine. But please don't answer telling me so. I just want help. Thank you.
Try chaning the input jack to stereo. Then use a wiring diagram like EMG or Seymour Duncan uses for their active pickups. The pickups are off when the guitar is unplugged. The pickups go on when you plug it in. The guitar cable makes the connection and acts as the on/off switch for the circuit. They have diagrams on their website.
If you wanted to use a SPST, you would need to splice into the battery cable line and hook 1 lead up to the switch.
