ceramic disk capacitor replacement?
my lcd tv blew out and when i checked the boards i found that a piece on one of the boards was scorched. i removed it from the board and found that its a ceramic disk capacitor. its green colored, coin shaped about the size of a penny. but i have been searching for a replacement but nothing matches the numbers on the piece. this is what is on it:
SCK
2R515
if anyone knows where i can find a replacement, or if its not a disk capacitor and knows what it really is. it would be greatly appreciated, i need my tv fixed! ![]()
Update: you guys are right, it started as a blown capacitor and when i replaced it i forgot to replug in some of the plugs when i plugged the tv into the outlet, thats when this part blew. i fixed all of the other parts (including the fuse wich blew as well) and i just need to replace this part but i couldnt find it. the link below LOOKS like the one i need but im not sure if it works because it doesnt match the serial numbers
I suspect Mr Gizlnick is either not an electronics engineer...or just doesn't care.
He did find you a suitable replacement part. While it looks like a cereamic disc capicatator, it is not. It is actually a thermistor. This is a device which varies resistance in relation to it's temperature; it's used by most things that detect temperature by direct contact. Your computer has a couple of these to monitor the CPU temp...motherboard temp...etc.
I can't say why your TV has one...but it's VERY suspicious that it's burned like that. You can try replacing it, however, there's a larger chance that other circuits are damaged and the TV is completely blown.
