do i need Digital coaxial cord to set up my ps3 with surround sound?

i have a sony DAV-HDX285 and i don't know how to set it up to my ps3 got it to work for my cable but i want both!

Connect an HDMI cable from the PS3 to your tv, hopefully it is a 1080P. Also connect an optical cable from the PS3 to your DAV-HD285. This will give you surround sound.
