Are my telecommunication engineering courses good enough?
Hi there,
I'm a little confuse about my telecommunication engineering. I'm doing it from a University in Pakistan, and I'm not quiet much sure what will be my future if I study these courses. Here's the list:
http://www.nu.edu.pk/ProgramCourse.aspx?prog=bste
The degree which I will be awarded will be Electrical Engineering with specialization in Telecommunication. Where I want to pursue my career is in the field of Hardware, Software, communication and interfacing. Will I get all these when I will be graduated? Or these are meant for something else?? Any simple technician or network analyzer... I don't know what exactly I will be doing after my graduation. Can I really go in depth of Computer Hardware and software with these courses, or what will be my future. Please Help.
It looks like a fairly good communications program. You are covering propagation, EM, and digital. I don't know about the job outlook in Pakistan for this field. But as a global education, it seems very good. The only thing that worries me is that there is very little calculus, which will put a lot of the burden of the calc on your higher level courses.
As far as what you can do with the degree, it looks like this would be better suited for some sort of communications company rather than computer hardware or programming. Your most likely job will be with a company that uses communications (cell phones, satellite, government, television). If you have other programming skills (I only see two classes that have anything to do with programming in your curriculum), you can probably get a job in industy as a programmer or signal coding specialist. Most likely you will be doing more mathematical work than field work.
