Not Your Average Metal Sign Color Wheel!

Metal signs really come in any color!

These days, aluminum metal signs are no longer restricted to tones of gray or white, but rather can be tailored to any color possible!   Of course if gray or white is your personal choice, metal signs can still be made in those colors.   However if a vivid teal or rustic orange suits your organization, then your new sign has the ability to be made to fit the bill.

*Fun Fact of the Day: Did you realize that ALL street signs aren't actually painted? None of them! They're in fact covered with colored reflective vinyl and then sealed to make sure the vinyl will not chip or peel.*

So can I really pick ANY color I would like for my custom metal sign?

Survey says….YES!   And how does that come about?  Well there are a few different approaches to coloring metal signs, all depending on the thickness of the aluminum metal you select.

What are the basic color selections for a normal outdoor metal sign?

Basic metal yard signs (usually real estate signs) are .040" in thickness.  For these signs, aluminum metal comes factory painted in the following colors:

  • Black
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Brushed Silver
  • Mirrored Silver
  • Brushed Gold
  • Mirror Gold

Well how about something that's more thick and rigid?

Thicker sheets of aluminum (as thick as .080") are also offered factory painted, but can be further modified to achieve the precise color you would like.

And much like street signs, we are able to cover any sheet of aluminum metal with vinyl in an unending range of colors.   The method is quite simple.  The vinyl is applied right after the metal is cut and just before your logo, lettering and design is printed into place.

But if the color you desire doesn't come factory painted, or you'd prefer not to use vinyl, we can spray paint or powder coat your sign to match your color sample.   Just as in a paint shop, you can select a sample of the color you would like us to match and our Art Department will go to work finding the perfect blend of power coating or spray paints to make it your color become reality!

Speaking of "vibrant and lasting", how long will the color of my metal sign last?

Our custom metal signs are rated to last 5-7 years.   Whatever color you choose (and you know there's a great deal of options now!) and however it is achieved, a clear UV protective laminate is used on all metal signs to help it resist color attacking agents including weather, the sun, pollution, rust and more!

Now that you realize that your color possibilities are endless and the rainbow is yours, why not get started mixing, coordinating and discovering what you can come up with?

Metal is made to be colorful, so spin the wheel!

What colors should I use to make violet on the color wheel?

My daughter has to paint a color wheel for her Art class. For some reason, she is having problems mixing the blue and red to violet. My thought was that maybe she's using the wrong shade of blue since there are so many different shades. She had problems getting a nice shade of blue-violet also. She is using acrylic paints. The rest of the colors seemed to come out okay.
