What do you do with the foil part of a coaxial cable when attaching a connector to it?

I'm working with a simple double-shielded coaxial cable. I have to attach a new connector to it and I want to make sure it's done right. I've stripped the outer thick black rubber coating off about 1/2 inch & pulled back the thin silver braided shielding. Now there's the thin foil shield & I'm not sure what to do with it - let me rephrase that - I'm not sure what the CORRECT thing to do with it is. Please help!!! It's driving me crazy and no one seems to know.

If you have a crimp type of fitting:

First, use a coaxial cable stripper or a utility knife carefully to remove 1/2 inch of the cable's outer covering. Peel back the woven outer conductor (and foil, if any), folding it back over the outer insulation. Second, strip 1/4 inch of the inner insulation to expose the slender center conductor. To attach the connector, first slip its ferrule onto the cable. Then push the body of the connector over the white insulation, fitting the sleeve under the outer conductor and foil. The white insulation will bottom out in the connector, and the inner conductor will protrude through the hole in the end of the plug. Finally, crimp the ferrule with a coaxial cable crimper or pliers to hold the connector in place.

If it is a twist fitting:

I like to pull the foil over the outer wires so the threads of the fitting catch evenly. (these are the ones I use)
