Computer Dead after car ride, wont turn on. How do I determine what component in broken?
After a car ride, desktop computer will no longer turn on. Computer has power, and mother board power led comes on when power cord is connected. Pushing the power button on the front of the computer does nothing. There is also a wierd smell coming from either the chip or power supply. How do I determine which component is not working?

Sounds like something shook lose and maybe is shorting out against another component .... giving you that smell
Pull the side off it and see if theres anything thats come unplugged (if you haven't pulled the side off a comp before you may get a little confused cause there is always spare power cables and audio cables that aren't connected to anything)
Basically you're looking to see if the cables are connected to rear of your hard-drive or from the hard-drive to the motherboard(SATA cables work lose very easily)
Is it making "BEEP" noises when you start it??? cause that would indicate a graphics card or RAM has come lose
