The fact about expensive HDMI cables

With our lives becoming more and more high tech, daily, most of us fall into the problems of scams. What most of us know about high tech could very possibly fit in a thimble.

Welcome to the new age of High Definition TV! (HDTV)

HDTVs are one of the most high in demand purchases in the market right now. With large, movie like monitors and picture perfect imagery, everyone desires one. When it comes to just "how" they function, not too many actually know. With this downside many of us can be taken on a ride that will cost lots of money and not make a bit of difference in the general operation of these Televisions.

Therefore what makes that HDTV of yours function?

It's called an HDMI cable. This cable carries the video and audio data to your display in a digital form. Not that long ago, you needed many cables to transmit this data to your screen. Not just were they unpleasant, snaking around furniture and all coming together as one big mess behind your television but they might easily breakdown in the transference of signals to your monitor.

HDMI cables are one, tiny cable that powerfully gets all of the data your set requires for your viewing. This said, with the level of popularity of these cables also opens the door for frauds waiting and willing to take your money. With jacked up prices and unfounded claims of outstanding performance, based on the price tag, customers are being taken for a ride.

Visit your local electronics shop, you will find these cables priced as little as 20-30$. You'll also find these identical cables running as much as $100! They're hyped in false advertisements of better quality video and audio results. The sales people will, obviously, try and steer you toward the more expensive cables. Welcome to the World of Fraud!

To have a better picture on how these cables work, take the fundamental speaker cables that attached to your speakers years ago. When these cables were attached to your system, they sent out a signal as an oscillating wave and power (many hundreds of watts) through these cables. In mastering these cables, the cables became larger/thicker and resulting in less distortions and a costly sale price.

There're no analogue waves or power being sent with an HDMI cable. These cables are transmitting a low power digital signal. All cables, no matter their price, will have a certain amount of noise and distortion. Your TV interprets the signal and cleans up any "noises" or disturbances coming from the cable and giving you an ideal end result. These cables are low-cost and superior performance.

There're no "this cable is better than that cable". The HDMI cable works or it does not, period! If your cable isn't working, it is time to ditch it and get another one. You will know if your cable is not working properly because you will get freezes on your screen, tiling (where you see blocks on your monitor rather than the whole image) or skipping frames.

There are just 2 things you need to know about purchasing your cable. One, make sure that it is long enough to reach your HDTV - that's a given. Secondly, these cables have versions. Version 1.3 of HDMI can carry double the amount of data as the older versions. Many HDTVs require the 1.3 version to support their different featured offerings for these TVs. Therefore check your High definition tv manual to learn which cable you need for your particular set. The "version" doesn't determine the price of these cables - don't purchase into that sales pitch.

Check out your discount store and pay the cheapest price you can for your HDMI cable, they are all the same. Don't get sucked into the belief that a $100 cable works better than a $20 cable. That's just bunk!
