Understanding the Stereo Amplifier

Among the many types of Stereo Amplifiers, the Class A amplifier is not everybody's choice since it consumes more energy than the other types. It produces continual distorted low sound due to its transistors, which function all the time. Since the transistors are always on, even when the amplifier is not being used to produce music, it consumes more energy than others. Therefore, people do not like to buy A class Stereo Amplifiers for residential usage.

On the other hand, the Class B stereo amplifier does not consume much energy as the A class does. Even though its efficiency of producing high volume is commendable, it also produces distorted sounds at times. Many people do not buy the Class B Stereo Amplifier due to its sound distortion. On the other hand, those who need to reduce energy consumption may go for a Class B.

The next type combines all the salient features of abovementioned two types. It is called AB stereo Amplifier. Many people buy it for residential usage since its low power consumption as well as clear sound output. It may also produce distortion if signals received are weak - for example due to a long distance of the two devices.

The Stereo Amplifier is a heavy device. When selecting one, the buyer should look whether there are fixed handles. They are mostly available on top of the amplifier or on the side panels. Without handles, this heavy device cannot be moved from place to place. Some models of the Stereo Amplifier are equipped with wheels and they are the best as far as mobility is concerned.

There are the Mini Stereo Amplifier as well which can be connected to mini amplifiers for CD players, Cassettes, Tuners, headphone jacks etc. This type of amplifiers is equipped with two low voltage amplifiers that provide 15 watts for each channel to produce music. Their sound system comprises with a backup battery and a stereo cable.

Furthermore, the mini Stereo Amplifier has three input connectors enabling them to take three difference sources of sounds. The user can connect them to CD players or any other compatible devices due to the easily connectable front panel socket. It is recommended, that relevant information is obtained from the Internet as well.

How must the two transistor junctions be biased for proper transistor amplifier operation?

For NPN junction transistor, common emitter configuration, the BE junction is forward biased, and the CB junction is reverse biased.
