Will my RCA's still work if the amp in my head unit is bad?

The amp inside my head unit is bad. So will it still put sound out from the rca's if I hook up an external amp? I currently don't have an amp to test so if anyone knows help me out.

Yes it will still work. The RCA jacks on the back of the stereo are just a signal regulated by the voltage that your deck puts out. The only part that is actually connected to the internal amp on the deck is the actual speaker wires. So you can definatly run an external amp and it will work, unless your RCA outputs arent putting out any signal, but that has nothing to do with the internal amp
