Should I plug in an external distortion pedal in the regular input of my amp or the foot switch input?

I use a fender deville amp. when i use a distortion pedal, should I plug the output into one of the regular inputs of the amp or the foot switch input?

Plug it in to the front end of your amp. DO NOT plug it in to the footswitch input. You'll probably end up frying some parts.
