HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter safety information
If you've confirmed with a known good voltmeter set to the right scale that the DC connector on the transformer isn't putting out any voltage, you have nothing to lose by unplugging the HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter(http://www.usadapter.com/Laptop-HP-Adapter/HP-Pavilion-DV7-AC-Adapter.html ) and cutting off the DC connector six inches or so before the jack end. Strip the end of the DC output cord still attached to the laptop AC adapter, make sure the ends are separated when you plug the HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter back into the power jack, and check for DC voltage across the exposed ends.
If there is no voltage, it's time to buy a new HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter. If the proper voltage is present, you'll need to buy a new connector solder it onto the cord or make up a new connector with two leads and splice it onto the power cord. You can order the HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter connector ends online if you know exactly the size you need (may be shown in the manual for your laptop if you have it available or can find it online) but you can also bring the cut-off connector to a Radio Shack or electronics store and match it by eye.
My HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter has been damaged.It was rated 18.5V and 3.5 AMP, 65W. I came across a replacement laptop ac adapter that is 19V and 4.74A, 90W. Look at Voltage and Amperage. In other words, the brick should be the right voltage, and it should be putting out the right wattage total. Volts x Amps = Watts.Under powering or overpowering the notebook will harm the laptop battery it will periodically heats up while charging... or not to charge at all. The battery might only charge with the unit off. The processor will have to work harder with this incorrect HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter voltage and amperage.These laptop manufacturers don't randomly reach into a bin to decide what HP ac adpater adapter you need for your laptop. There is a reason why there are so many different bricks with different voltage/amp combination's to achieve the same wattage. Each laptop has specific requirements.
The amperage and wattage rating is actually better than your original HP Pavilion DV7 AC Adapter. The only thing that is out of spec is the voltage rating which is 0.5V. This is nothing considering the voltage droops when the laptop ac adapter is under load. So am pretty sure that you have done a good replacement.

how to wire 2x dvc 4ohm subs to amp?
i have two 400w rms subs and im looking for a 800-1000w mono amp. but what would be the best way to wire them in ohms? i have been told 1 ohm stable is the way to go, but then i get someone saying that is dangerous and they wont last long. or i could wire them to 2 ohms or 4 ohms. anybody shed some light on this situation? i want good power but safety too. thanks

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING dangerous about wiring to 1-ohm, as long as the amplifier is rated to go that low. It is also usually the least expensive way to go. As for £100... you will not find a QUALITY amp that will do rated power for that price new. In my opinion your best option for the money is a Hifonics BRZ1200.1D http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23548_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ1200.1D.html its more expensive than your max. But buying anything lower quality will most likely lead to problems.
